This story was supposed to contain the words "peacock", "chartreuse", and "drums".
Untitled
The drums stopped.
The native guides immediately appeared to go crazy, weeping and shouting.
"What does it mean?", Finch asked, but no one responded. A wailing sound rose in the midst of the weeping and shouting, and it was soon joined by a keening sound that was straight out of your best nightmare.
"Was that you?" asked Bertram, as cool as if someone has just farted in a board meeting.
"Of course" responded Clyde.
The native drums started again, then stopped.
The lead guide vomited chartreuse.
All the others had disappeared. The entire party, hunkered down, waited, breathless. Finch, feeling the fear palpably, whispered again to Bertram, "But what does it mean, when the drums stop?" Bertram looked up slowly, a vein on his neck standing out, met his gaze and mouthed the words silently, ... "drum solo".
